They can't have the meet on a Sunday. That's Jesus's day.

It's marketed as an hugely stellar L.A. meet. But it's in a little wealthy town so mall no one in L.A. ever heard of it 100 miles from LAX. The Hollywood Foreign Press Corps and US Media isn't coming because on weekends they cover movie premiers. WTF?
I’m seeing 12mph winds Satuday night. Does that really justify cancelling?
An hour south in San Diego winds are projected to reach 18-19 mph at around 2-3, enough to crush any hopes of a fast time in any race. Maybe they’ll push it back a couple hours to let the wind die down, but you can only push the races back so much before it’s past everyone’s bedtime and people start showing up to the starting line half asleep.
We changed the title of the thread and added this to the first post.
LRC note. We added in the part about the winds to the title and also took out an off topic insult in the post. The wind forecast for San Juan Capistrano is 21 mph at 6pm (gusts to 26), 18 mph at 8 pm (gusts to 24), and 14 mph at 10 pm (gusts to 20). The elite men's 10k was schedule for 9:18 pm.
Winds will be the same for everyone in the races, it probably will slow the times downs though, No need to cancel, The projected winds are not high enough to be dangerous.
You are totally missing the point. This race is for the runners to hit a particular time standard that they need to get into either the USA Championship or the World Championship. The winds will be high enough to make that difficult for many of the runners.
If I was entered, I wouldn't run if they still insist on having the meet on Saturday.
Dude....it's 6 bucks. Help them put on these events.
The mods deleted some of his posts and edited his others, so I think you've missed his arrogant, @ssholish posts on here related to the event (and then he was taking shots at Letsrun).
So no, I'm not interested in supporting his event, 6 bucks or not.
Has it been cancelled, so I hear?
I love the idea of moving around a race to get the ideal weather temps, especially with a small field / only having a few events. Wish more meets could do that.
Of course, have to be able to give a definitive answer and leaving people hanging like this is bad. Good in theory though!
Poor management not keeping the athletes informed. At this point athletes are in transit or already there.
Jonathan spoke to a top agent. They event's date is still up in the air.
Maybe if the clowns putting on this race held it at a stadium to buffer the wind instead of at an open high school track…but that’s asking for common sense to be applied. My bad.
While there are some tracks in the Los Angeles area with stands, none of them are an actual stadium so it would still be pretty windy.
Wind dying down? Any updates?
Officially moved to Sunday
Confirmed moved to Sunday. Same exact schedule
If anyone is curious on the pacing goals, they can be seen here:
I just signed up for the meet. If it on Sunday, I cannot watch it because of another commitment. Do I get my money back???
