That there isn’t an explanation of this DQ from a USATF official, at least in the form of a written statement and ideally in the form of post-meet day media availability, is a sign of how small-time our sport is. A world champion has been disqualified and won’t get an opportunity to compete at a world championships, and no one knows why—even the broadcast was in the dark yesterday.
The results show five DQs, which is still atrocious. The one guy ran a 1:48 PB, but it doesn't count? Shades of 2018 Birmingham Indoor World's, which was a bloodbath of officious nonsense.
They also disqualified SEVEN 800 runners for supposed lane infractions. I've never seen that many DQ's before. Something needs to change because this isn't good for the sport.

But when you watch say NAU training videos on Flotrack and they are all running off the inside of the track how is that the officials fault. How about coaching your athletes not to practice doing things that get your disqualified.
I was at the CU meet a couple of weeks ago and there were clear infractions just on the bend I was on. The official put his flag up two 400 races in a row and then as he was about to do it on the 3rd one he just sorta changed his mind. You could almost see him thinking I'm sick of this.

There was 5 women and 2 women in the 800 who were DQ'd.
And yes, I also thought about the world indoors in Birmingham. I think that one heat had everyone DQ'd.
That is the confounding idiotic myopia of certain parts of American culture that I simply do not understand. Because after all, getting an award from the Better Business Bureau or home grown association is more prestigious than getting a Noble. SMDH
Does it not stand to reason that an athlete form a college winning a global medal brings more prestige to that college?
No. Helping your TEAM win a conference or national championship is much more important to the university. Because then the University can promote that the UNIVERSITY won which is better for them then to say an INDIVIDUAL won.
Also, the chances of a college athlete actually winning a global indoor medal is very small. If they were that good, they would have most likely already gone pro.
Seriously, which college athlete this year would actually win a global indoor medal? (Abby Steiner doesn't count because there's no 200 at the world indoor championships.)
Just top of mind without doing research: Trey Cunningham in the 60H. Pretty much a lock for silver. Trevor Bassitt ran 45.75 to win Nationals. Allison of Florida ran 45.03 to win the SEC. is in the mix for a medal.
