Just Googled this guy. Tragic story. School superintendent who ran 40 MPW and was doing a track workout. Took one emergency dump and somehow caught.
Police leaked his mugshot, media picked up on the story and it went viral with him being painted out to be a serial pooper even though he said this was the only time it happened. Lost his job and was pretty much unemployable.
Most people here can relate to having stomach emergencies crop up... I'll admit to darting into a corn field when I was 4 miles away from home on a long run and nowhere near any facility. Crap move by the cops... not sure why they'd feel the need to arrest the guy.
To all the slobbering fools that bring hate to BTC due to their deranged envy 😉😎😂 BTC is the only group currently allowed to train at Sedona HS track. That alone should dispel the none sense and slander slung at BTC by a few fools that post on this website.
Anonymous sources from the inside have confirmed to me that it was not Canadians with poopgate. All sources point towards the BTC that were there a few weeks ago. 🤷

Yeah, right, shillster. They banned EVERY group for taking dumps on the track, except BTC. Makes TOTAL sense. Even more sense since you posted it without a source.

Time will tell.
Will you apologize to BTC… and moi, when the facts come out?
I agree. Someone has to plan all the lodging and whatnot ahead of time, so practice facilities should definitely be part of that planning. I'm surprised any non-student would be allowed on school grounds during school hours to begin with. Sure, as an individual I'm sure I've broken this rule in some one-off workout, but there's a big difference between that and a group of adults regularly using the track and especially going inside the school for whatever reason.
Teams do rent it out... but that doesn't allow them to take a dump near the track
You'd think that someone in the group would have had a pair of compression socks in their bag.

no. it just proves that btc pays big enough bribes to keep doing what they are doing. obvously other teams will get away with more once they pay up too.
Looks, per streetview, like there is adequate shrubbery around, esp by the highway, for the offender to have found an emergency location. I mean, come on people.

Not BTC folks.
For some on this site that is just too hard for them to take. To those people I say “take off eh” and you will owe me a half sac of beer when the facts come out.

What does time have to do with it? You are the one claiming you have evidence. You are the one claiming every other club got banned for defecation on the track, except yours.
Let's see YOUR evidence about who took a dump, in contrast to all other known facts.
In this scenario, yeah, I was just responding to a vague comment in a general way. Some schools allow for public use (in fact many do). Some do for free but in Sedona where it gets high traction, making people pay to use it makes sense.
Nike has a track on campus however BTC has training camps all over the World. They can’t build a track at every place they go.
Is it true what Kevin Hanson said that all professional teams have a liability waiver that they can provide to a local High School? I mean do teams like Roots, Minnesota Elite, Mckirdy, Tinman, all have insurance?
I seriously doubt that any of them do.
ok fair. Football teams have to travel too, and use other facilities owned by other entities. They plan ahead, figure it out, and formally secure the facilities their athletes need. I think the main difference here is we see pro runners as grassroots poor people. Which might be a fair assessment of the athletes themselves. But their overlords have the $. They at least have enough resources and personnel to negotiate a formal agreement to regularly use the public facilities in the places where they are holding their altitude camps.
...or maybe spring for a potty? ≈ $120/week. Pretty simple
Tragicomic! While it is great for the sport to get NYT coverage, it wasn't for superlative performances or "Forget clubbing and trendy dining spots. Track meets are the new hotness!". Nope. Skinny people like to crap on public property.
Brojos and Gault - why did the Times scoop you on this story? This should have been your story.

I mean yeah there's no proof he was the serial pooper, but students had been finding poop daily there, so the school district waited out to see who was pooping and they caught him. I guess there is an ideological argument to be made about due process, but I don't for a second believe his excuse that this was the first time.
Perhaps there was a second pooper. But I don't really care. He was charged with the crime that they caught him committing, and the school district independently chose to fire him over it. He pled guilty to the charges that he had been routinely doing this.

Exactly. It would be such a nice way to say "hey thanks for letting us use your track - here's some proof that we'll take care of our own sht and keep things nice around here."
As they are finding out, the relationship between their altitude camps and the go-to public track is pretty damn important.

💯
Pro runners suck, by and large they are narcissistic and take from the community more than they give back to it. They apparently think their performances and stature are contribution enough. I applaud the many notable exceptions to this, certainly.

I pretty much agree with this. We talk about pro runners being "good for the sport" but really, what do we hobbyjoggers need from them? Most sponsored pro runners are just brand ambassadors. We get fooled by the ads and the social media and the personal interest stories. But that's what their role is. They are not that different from the hot instagram girls who pose in athletic wear. But we act like they are advancing human society for us, when really they're shaving a tenth of a second off a national record (a purely personal achievement).
