Not finishing a race like this is what you might expect of a schoolgirl who has badly misjudged the distance. It's lamentable for an Olympic champion and showed she would rather bail than lose badly. So she elected to look like a poor loser.

This race got me really excited for 1500. She pulled off at about 3:50 for 1409. 91 meters to go.
Ok. Now I know you are either highly emotional over this subject or intentionally trolling.

So she did cross the finish line after all? I didn't see that bit?
Except there is no reason to think she could have run the remaining 91 meters in 18 seconds. She was fading visibly approaching the last lap and clearly was spent to such a degree that she had to step off. She hit the wall. The whole point in speculating about her time was in trying to extrapolate at what pace and distance a great 800 runner would hit the wall.

So she didn't know she had another 91 metres to go? Someone should have told her it's a mile, not a 1409m race.
This site is hilarious, over analyzing an indoor race for an athlete coming off a successful Olympic season. The kicker the distance is twice the distance she races at, which is also 4 times the distance she is competitive at. A huge difference when considering she's not a strength based athlete at all. The mile was a failed experiment, what did you guys expect? Did you want her to crawl accross the line like Cooper teare? Just be happy she even showed up for this little meet.
There's a thread for this? wrote:

I'm sure she's happy she showed up. The finishing part is the bit she didn't have the hang of.
She is the fastest American woman under 20 for 1200 meters. That is a fact. How can you not be excited for a future fast 1500 for a person like that? If she ran leadoff DMR in the NCAA and handed off 20 meters ahead, it woukd become apparent to some of you.
No silly. She had 91 to 1500. This was a mile. 4:07 will be a breeze.

Who is racing 1200m?

The only "breeze" is the wind coming from you apologists for failure.
Every college team runs a DMR. I am really starting to wonder if you understand English.

You might be a little too invested in this if you are driven to a state of lament over someone else's performance in a January indoor meet.
Sports are entertainment. None of this matters. Relax dude, lol.
Are you so down on her because she is black?
so she is world class level for 400/800. but for the 1500, she is only at NCAA all-american level. not so bad. longer distances typically take longer to develop.
I don't believe she could every be a medal threat for the distance, but a sub 4 is possible. The training it may take to reach that level might not be in her best interest though.
hopefully we have many years to speculate
i believe she runs a 1500 in 4:07 or 4:08 yesterday. almost no chance she is not at least a 4:10. she did not run herself to the point of completely locking up when there was 200 meters to go. 18 seconds for 91 meters should be a very easy pace for her to hit in all but the very worst circumstances.
You're taking this too seriously. Rumors of Tom Brady's retirement emerge and immediately we have threads wondering if he belongs in the HOF and others calling him a total loser as a quarterback. It's LetsRun, ignore the stupidity and trollism.

But she did lock up. Her final 100 was 18+ seconds. Her next 100 might have been 20 seconds.
So absolutely worst case would have been 4:08 because she had 91 meters to go.
