The half marathon record is about 1:10 so that is 13.1 miles at about 5:20 pace.

#1 rule of stroller running is that it needs to be your kid to count as a record. Sleep deprivation and stress of parent is part of the challenge.[/quote]
This ^^
Kipchoge could beat Ultra records while pushing a stroller

That’s why I guessed 5:15 before I opened the thread. Not so much for the difficulty, but for who the competitors are.

I used to win 5k races in 16 minutes pushing a stroller. That's 5:10 pace for 5k. I probably could have run 4:40 for 1 mile but I did not keep hands on the stroller at all times.
Similar story here. I ran low 16s pushing a stroller a couple times, and wasn’t even going “all out”. Not sure what the rules are as far as keeping your hands on it are. I usually did one hand and would switch every few minutes. The track would be bit harder because of the turns. If you don’t lock the front wheel on those jogging strollers they start vibrating violently when you’re going fast. But that makes it harder to turn. I was a low 15s guy at the time, so 20 sec per mile sounds about right. There’s no reason this record shouldn’t be at least sub-4:30.
Craig Wheeler ran a down hill mile in 3:24 as a teenager back in the early 90s. It was featured on the BBC kids show Record Breakers.

I'm actually more impressed with Sydney Masciarelli's 5:08, Whittni Orton's 4:58, and Dylan Sorensen's 4:37 while dribbling a basketball. I thought it would be a lot faster. Hell, the beer mile record is 4:28.
What's the record for pushing a keg on a hand truck?

Unless your name is Calum Neff, I call BS.
https://runningmagazine.ca/the-scene/calum-neff-sets-his-third-stroller-pushing-world-record/I just pulled up a newspaper article of one that I won in 16:18. I won multiple races across many years pushing 4 different children. I used an original model baby jogger. Technique was to push out then 3 steps then push out. It does not qualify for the record because you have to keep hands on the stroller. I have 2 kids who are D1 runners today which will give my identity away to some readers who will remember the stroller days.
Anyone know if this has to be done on the track? Or can I take a shot at it at a local road mile race?
Stroller running is easy. You should see Danny Macaskill ride his MTB with a kid in the trailer.
Does it have to be on a track? Because I would expect the turns would significantly slow one down with a stroller.
I forgot Florida has the asphalt tracks.

It would be WAY harder on a track. I assumed that this was not done on a track. I can't imagine trying to run a mile all out on a track with a stroller.
Yeah, there should be a human child in the stroller for it to count. It's a stupid record anyway. Does anyone believe Jakob could barely break 5 pushing an empty stroller around the track.

4:53 in not that fast.
Ok go break the record
Jerry Lawson (the 1:01, 2:09 guy) ran a 14:59 5K, while pushing a friends kid in a stroller.
Now you know.

The old record was 4:57.
The new one is.
4:53.

No kidding, I did so many workouts while pushing a stroller, definitely recall doing a 4-mile tempo at 5:00-5:10. I am 100% sure I can clock a sub 4:40 with a small child.. but how embarrassing would it be to get noticed for that.

Why do you think it would be embarrassing? I think it would be embarrassing to appropriate someone else's child and run just for the record. But for someone to run fast with their own kid in the stroller? I do probably 70% or 80% of my training with my daughter, and while I race without the stroller, I'd find going after a record with her meaningful and special - something we could look back on and laugh about when she's older. (Sadly, I'm not fast enough to do this. But more power to those who are.)

It's embarrassing because such records should not even be kept. I already have many special memories running with my children and don't crave the attention something like this would provide (if any). However, I have to say I am tempted to throw my 55lb daughter on my old Bob and show this guy how weak his record is.
