I have heard old school club coaches say "coaches recruit times" as if that is the beginning and end of the story.
I have heard more recently that kids should have insta and twitter that includes running content.
Thoughts? Experiences?

If you are a good runner trying to go to a good program then social media doesn't matter.
If you are still developing and trying to get a spot at a lower division school then it might be somewhat beneficial, but not nearly as important as having conversations with the coaching staffs of the schools you are interested in.
You will be judged by all of your letsrun posts.
The Brojos are happy to give that information to the colleges.
Having good social media won't boost your recruiting stock, but it can hurt you if you act like an idiot online.

This...I may use social media to try to get in contact with an athlete but don't follow it much. I have never looked at an account and felt I should offer an athlete more. I have seen things on social media that cause me to question if I should offer the said athlete or move forward recruiting them.
I would respect the rare recruit who did not take place in social media at all (but certainly don't expect that).
