I knew this within $1,000. Hard to keep track exactly as it changes all the time.
But I would be shocked it 20% of people could even come close on this one. People just don't care about these numbers. They know info on their household and their immediate close community(siblings, parents, a few close friends).
It's notable that when adjusted for cost of living, Americans are ridiculously wealthy, even compared to other wealthy countries. We've got it very, very good here and nobody even knows it.

It is actually worse than that, the median salary is more like 36k. Average is not a very good metric.
Most people are stupid and don't realize how big of a difference average and median is. Especially when you have things that have no limit on one side of the spectrum, but can are limited by 0 on the low side. I'm preaching to the choir, but take 10 people, 9 of them make even distribution from $20k to $95k and the last one makes $880k the median the average gets calculated at $100k+ even though the 'typical' median person is really around $50k.
If you think 10 out of 10 people are actually employed you may have more in common with those
"stupid people" than you think. There's a little over 260 million people in the US labor force. 100 million people are unemployed and are not looking for a job.

Bro, there are 73 million kids under the age of 18 in this country. You calling those deadbeat 5-year olds "unemployed"?
