not even running their full MD squad, they have another 1:49 transfer from arizona, they are going to be a force in the DMR

Iowa State last year ran 1:46-1:47-1:47-1:47-1:47.
Fast, kinda.
400m guy, Johnathan Jones was in this race as well. He was a beast in the 800 in high school.
the word is that flo was expecting him to win against the md guys, not sure what happened..
A few 1:48's one time isn't going to do much if that's all they do. They need to be 1:47 to enter the discussion of doing something serious. Right now they're just people who have a good shot at qualifying for NCAAS. Last year the 16th fastest time was 1:48.59.
But what is impressive is that they're underclassmen. If they can all be 1:47's or faster next year at this time would be exceptional.
Now bring on the Brits to tell us that we shouldn't be talking about 19/20 year olds running 1:48 indoors because it's not good.
They should have a very good chance at a Penn Relays 4x8 title this year. Otherwise, these are a very good times but not really that newsworthy. This team could be on the come up for sure though.
Pretty good but need more wrote:

2 of the guys were 1:46 last year, made it to the finals in outdoor
I definitely think this is a new chapter for UT tf, especially for mens mid distance
I think they will be disappointed if they aren't a top 5 team at nationals.
Lol. It was just their first meet. Geez! Texas mid distance program is legit. Tx A&M is not the only "800M University," around.
Agreed. Texas is doing a great job in recruiting mid distance guys.
Off topic, but maybe someone here might know. What happened to Jake Merrell over at Baylor? That Texas high school kid had so much promise, but seems to have faded away.
