I think there's a lot of people on or closely associated with Pomona Pitzer posting favorably here. Calm down. They haven't run any times yet.
Instead of running your mouth on a message board, how about entering your team at a real D1 cross country meet next year? Put your money where your mouth is, or shut up.
Just to be clear, I have absolutely no affiliation with Pomona, other than the fact that my child was recruited there, but chose to go to the northeast. In fact, I usually root against Pomona 9 times out of 10. My only reason for posting positively on this is that it would be pretty special for a D3 school to get 5 runners under 14:10. Of course, as I said earlier, I'm not a firm believer that they can even do it.
I also would love to see them enter a D1 meet against good competition. But it doesn't happen too often. Alex Philip (D3 XC Champion) from John Carroll was at the Paul Shorter Classic earlier in the season and came in 6th against some pretty stout D1 competition, but they didn't allow the entire team to compete, just him, so its not an accurate comparison. Apparently in the old days some of the D3 guys got to run at the D1 XC nationals races and did pretty well, but they stopped that practice. And now with track, you see a few of the top D3 guys Like Philip and Ryan, show up at the top D1 meets and hold their own. They certainly aren't beating the Nico Young's of the world, but they are competitive. For instance, Henry Pick (from Claremont) came in 12th at the BU meet in the 3k last December and beat several D1 runners in the process.
