Anyone have a semi rule for thumb or philosophy about advancing mileage for low mileage runners? So basically, 7th 8th and 9th grade-ish or newbie adults. Case- Runner at 16 MPW (Middle schooler) 4m a day 4 days a week. Add a day vs. increase the per day mileage ? This is a pre HS runner so advancing total miles very slowly. This is pretty hard to mess up with only 16 MPW I know, but physiologically, what do you see as the difference in someone running base as say 5M per day 6 days per week vs. 7.5M per day 4 days per week? Both 30MPW.
Physiologically, more days or more miles per day in the legs? BTW, this is base running no meets on horizon for 3 + months.
