Not sure why he would, since I thought that was his main income stream?
Of running youtubers, I only watch him, fairly regularly. Usually in these threads, some other youtuber will chime in that some other so-and-so is the best, but spare me; Seth is unique in his niche. But if others want to go that route, I can come back that prob a lot of the others can quit being shoe shills and get real jobs.
Love him or hate him, what he does seems exhausting. Props
He should cut back to one or two quality videos per week. Less filler and B roll, more substantial content, and dial back the hyperactive persona.
But that is not his shtik under which his channel has grown. Hopefully he ignores all the naysayer voices telling him to cut his channel back, since I think those voices are in the minority of his viewership.
I remember when Triathlon Taren went through the same deal. He was pretty big on updating every day and then eventually dropped to 3 days a week. He eventually became an endorser of any product that would send money his way and lost a lot of credibility. He has since pivoted away from triathlon to motiv, or whatever it’s called.
Bottom line is that it’s hard to put up quality content 7 days a week. A lot of Seth’s vlogs are 12 minutes long with half of that filler material from camera angles and shots that aren’t necessary.
YouTube algorithms essentially make 10+ minute long videos, so that's why there is filler garbage. I've watched Seth here and there but the videos are not that interesting.
It’s gotta be their only income stream. So, I doubt he can quit, especially after moving into the mansion. He may get a job somewhere else like runners world or something. But, idk. I think a lot of us middle aged Americans go through this. We leave a house that was nearly paid for, for a more expensive one. There is always a hint of regret.
He's trying to time the market.
He built out a website and merch page, gaining income through subscriptions and Patreon.
Going to be interesting how to continue rolling.
Maybe he’s finally realized that Google is an evil company and it’s time to become a Neo-Luddite and pull the plug on the interweb.

The old Buddhist tenet about ignorant clinging and possessions come to life. The more material things that you possess, the more you become a slave to those possessions.
I think there are issues with True Loves pregnancy and the pressure to upload daily is taking a toll. He either will dial it back to a few days a week or shorten the vlogs. I vote he just makes some quality vlogs a couple of times a week. Also I think he took some time off YouTube and just did some prerecorded the last few weeks. He either has a job offer, hired some help, or is changing the frequency of the vlogs.
There's been a lot of rumors floating around that true love is going to be taking over the channel and chronicling her running journey.
I feel bad for the guy tbh. I can’t imagine having to film a new video everyday staring at screens just to keep up the grift. Has to be exhausting. I would go insane. (Seems like he is actually). Explains the evangelist vibes he puts off.
Feels like he realizes it's over. Good for him.
I wonder how much the disappointment of NYC Marathon is playing into this? It seems that's when whatever is happening to him began. It will be interesting to see where he goes with everything. Must be exhausting to do daily videos the way he does! Even this change or announcement or whatever he is stretching out to fill video content. Anyway, my best wishes to him and his family whatever route they take.
I'd say he's another blown marathon from an existential crisis. The toll of daily vlogging, his eating disorder, high mileage... When you're approaching the end of your peak performance window there needs to be a pay off for all the effort you put in otherwise oooh boy. Downward spiral time.
As for his channel, true love is completely uninteresting and his conversations with her are always so cringey and contrived. Daily v-logging means too many pointless filler shots and pointless videos so he's lost his spot as the shoe review guy. Too many others have filled that void now and are better but he gave that up somewhat willingly to focus on the boring daily stuff so that's on him. Hopefully for him and his ever expanding family he keeps selling enough butter emojis to the stans...
I can't believe how he is dragging out his mysterious shtick about "things are changing" "I'm not quitting", and his audience actually accepts it. It's so cheap. His daily videos are filled with the same multi angle shots of opening cupboards and walking awkwardly around his house to get coffee. I haven't watched in a long time, but I checked out that recent video to see that it's still boring nonsense.
Better to cut losses early IMO.
- He's not going to come close to making a living as a running personality, nowhere near enough to support 7 people in a very high cost of living area and a non-working spouse.
- He's certainly not going to make a living from his running earnings.
- The stress is probably getting to him. I have 2 kids and sometimes feel I'm going insane trying to balance raising kids, working, and keeping in shape to run a 2:45 marathon. I can't even imagine having to perform at a higher level with 5 kids.
- My wife has a YouTube channel with a small following (15k subs). She puts out one video or so a week and it's easily a 2-3 hour commitment, from getting ideas, to filming, editing, uploading, etc.
I kind of feel bad for the guy TBH. I wonder if the New York bonk was the beginning of the end.

I can’t watch any of his videos for longer than 15 seconds without cringing immensely.
