Wondering if you guys have any input.
I decided to do PT for upper hamstring thing.
There are two main symptoms:
(1) There is a small, central spot I can find if aggressively roll out with a Lacrosse ball.
(2) There is a sort of dull ache over the upper back left into the glute.
It's not clear to me how they relate. Neither is or was debilitating, more like a minor annoyance.
Symptom (1) seems independent of any activity, wasn't something I noticed pre-PT, and I may have made it worse or more noticeable by overdoing the rolling.
Symptom (2) can be activated in very specific combinations of range of motions and intensity. Previously, when I was running, it could be brought on by that. Now, I see it can be brought on by
* Deep squat on the leg press machine
* Intense intervals on stationary bike or elliptical
* The leg curl machine (not leg extension machine)
* Intense speed-walking or jogging on treadmill (max incline)
for example.
PT says no leg curl machine or running, but anything else is fine, preferably as much variety as possible.
Some PT exercises perscribed really make (2) flare up, e.g. the single leg dead lift. It's now hard for me to report whether it's getting "better" because I can't remember exactly how it felt pre-PT and can't distinguish between whether a achy sensation during an exercise is a "productive" or "bad."
Any advice on how can I be a better patient, provide more useful info to PT?
