Is that fast? I'm more impressed with the Texas FR running 4:01!
I believe it puts him at #11 all time NCAA right behind Isaiah Jewett

Don't forget that he finished behind another college runner in this race.

Whoops, you’re right! Still, 12th, and the other runner is a junior (but also very impressive)
Good pace for someone who is attempting an indoor 800m WR.
A record that is nearly 25 Years old. We should see a couple runners get close to 1:43 this season, but the record will probably still stand after this year.
The results weren't posting at that link but I looked Austin up. He ran 47.71/1:50.00/4:18 outdoors as a senior in high school last year. 1:15 for 600m indoors is a big step up. He should be competitive at indoor nationals.

Not too shabby for his first NCAA meet! So close to U20 WR! Go Gators!
A Georgia high school senior, Will Sumner, has run faster than Austin at 400m (47.01) and just set a national record at 500m of 1:01.25. He has run 1:52 this year but is next targeting the 600m record. Strymar Livingston ran a bunch of 1:17s (best of 1:17.58 for the national record) and 1:18 low back in 2012, and Shaquan Brown also ran sub 1:18. I think Sumner may get close.
hes a junior academically
the texas guy is a junior academically*
