Here is a summary of several studies on mask wearing and Covid. Proper mask use greatly reduces transmission of the virus. This has been scientifically proven over and over again. But as others have noted, to wear a mask or not to wear a mask, to get vaxxed or not to get vaxxed is not always a decision based on science but on political or tribal belief systems about "freedom" or "responsibility" or... on the far end of the spectrum, conspiracy theories that support one's own beliefs. I know 6 people who have died of Covid. Yes, they were all over 50. In the last month I know 8 people who have caught Covid, ranging in age from 20's to 60's. All but one were vaxxed. Two were asymptomatic - two of the older ones, as a matter of fact. Two in their 20's - one is a marathoner and she was laid up for 5 days. The other was infected two weeks ago and still has coughing and fatigue. Had to skip work for a week and now is working from home. None were hospitalized - yet, but not being able to get out of bed for 5 days or not being able to work for a week - that is an issue. That is not 'nothing." The other big issue is you can infect your family and friends. You want to be responsible for killing your mom??? Or your friend or neighbor?? I guess some people don't care. It is a nasty disease and Omicron has the transmissability of measles. To be crass, a lot of the people who won't wear masks are people who won't wear condoms... or want to smoke in bars... or not wear seatbelts because they are "free." Freedom ends when you can kill someone or infect them by breathing on them. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/masking-science-sars-cov2.html
