I was more "intelligent" than my parents when I was 14-15. If we're talking about common sense, being well adjusted, or wisdom, then I'm definitely way dumber than them in my late 20s.

Parents in their mid 60s, I'm in my mid 20s. I doubt I will ever overpass them, maybe someday I will equal them but it's doubtful.

I am not referring just to tech stuff but being smarter in many areas such as helping them out with financial decisions, big purchases, planning vacations, dealing with doctors and stuff like that.
I felt I was there at age 26 but out of respect to them, I wasn't obvious about it. I gave gentle guidance.
The older you get the answer becomes more obvious….. never.
Son didn't study but got a 33 ACT when he was a junior in HS. He is pretty smart but I con him into solving all my tech woes. He is in his 30s now. We treat each other pretty much as equals. He is more knowledgeable on stuff in his domain and vice versa.

My parents are in their 80s and both sharp as a tack. My father uses Ubuntu as his operating system, is a Ham operator and very technically savvy. No need for me to help them with anything just yet.
You didn't answer the question. I didn't ask if you need to help them out.
Umm...yes you did - "such as helping them out with financial decisions, big purchases, planning vacations, dealing with doctors and stuff like that."
My answer again - "No need for me to help them with anything just yet."
Maybe someone needs to help YOU out.
I mean, good for you OP, but, statistically, you end up in the income bracket you're born into. Define smart however you want to but most kids go to similar colleges their parents went to (if they went to college) & end up making the same amount of money.
When you beat your father in chess (obviously without actually reading chess books or attending a club or those sorts of things). I guess that was at the age of 12? Took another year to beat grandpa.
