I'm asking because many people run the 800 differently. I'm a 4/8 guy, or more like a 400 guy who was moved up to the 8 (because I was too slow for the sprinters lmao). We did an indoor time trial today, went 2:03. I'm currently running 15-20mi/wk. Haven't been over 20 at all for the entire school year. I'm getting bumped up to 30 by spring though.
I went 61, 62. (28-32-32-30). I don't have the greatest endurance since I only have a mile PR of 4:59 (I think I'm currently in the 4:45-50 range right now). My 400m speed is really what brought me through. I can comfortably run a 53 or 52. PR of 50. So I know I have more than enough speed. Literally no endurance though.
The first meet is next weekend and I want to break 2, I don't know if it's a realistic goal. But what should my splits be if I'm aiming for it? Someone said I should aim to negative split, and another said to positive split. The last time I went out in 59 I came back in 67 lmao (for that race I ran the first 200 26/27, i'm probably in a lot better shape now though)
