I recently purchased a pair and was quite excited to try them out, excited to finally see what the latest science could do for my performance. To my dismay, they literally felt worse than any other pair of shoes I have worn in my life. I felt constantly off-balance, awkward, and inefficient on both the workout reps and the jogs in between them. My feet, hips, and right knee were downright discombobulated after a few sets of 200s.
I hoped that it was just me getting used to the new spikes, but I’ve now worked out in them four times and if anything it’s gotten worse. I couldn’t make it through a 5 x 1k workout with them on, and upon switching out of them I ran smoother and faster in trainers than in these “super spikes.” I ran well consistently in the carbon-plated Vics this past XC season so I imagine I respond to carbon plates well enough, but the stack height of the midsole makes me feel like I’m running on a ball. I can’t possibly see myself racing in them. I don’t naturally heel strike, and as far as I know I don’t have an abnormally-shaped foot. Anyone else have a similar experience???
