In the NCAA, an athletes worth is determined by how many points they can score at a conference meet. You don't get a full ride by just looking good, you are on a full ride because you can score points. I see many people on the boards complaining about why their athlete isn't getting looks by P5 schools, but its pretty cut and dry if you ask me. Even with 4 years of great training, you won't have a chance of scoring any points. Maybe you do, but a P5 coach isn't about to wait 3+ years to find out.
I have a few questions:
How many lifetime conference points did you score in college?
How many points do you need to score over 4 years to be worth a full ride?
How many points for a partial? How much should a walk-on be expected to score?
rules
- relays only count for 25% of points scored. If you got second in the 4x4, that counts as 2 points for you
- You can count indoor and outdoor. In total, you have 8 possible meets to score at in college
- Im talking about P5 conferences here but the standards really apply to any D1 conference
I spent time in the Big 10 and ACC. Over 7 conference meets I competed in, I scored 17 points. How much scholarship money would you give someone who averages 2.4 points per meet?
