Coaching doesn't really do anything for society
It's one step above teacher in the "glorified young adult babysitter" pecking order.
Pursue something that's essential to society and you'll find fulfillment.
Mow lawns, plow snow, construction, deliver food, manage a business, get into the trades, law enforcement, paramedics. Pick one.
This was honest and thank you! You get into coaching because you want to help and be a apart of something special and fun and the pursuit of excellence and then the snakes eat you alive and your life's work is meaningless because the snakes win. I wonder how many great athletes are out there that were screwed by these snake teammates. ugh. deliver food sounds fun.
Not really.
When I grew up all the coaches were volunteers. They sent people tot eh Olympics, but never charged anyone, or expected anything special. Athletes came to them, and athletes left. We coached and competed because we loved it.
You were a D1 coach. I suspect you were paid a living wage. Yeah you may have loved the job, but it was a job.
Track and Field is an individual sport, with a few relays and mock team events thrown in. No team mate stopped anyone from succeeding, - unless they actively tackled them.
I can see your frustration, but don't take much from it. Go get a 'real job', see how that feels. I loved coaching. Had some super athletes. Never got paid, can still coach. Don't have to worry about any angst about officials etc.
The reality is Admin are responsible for that big old organization you work for. Its 2021, time to move on. Or do some volunteer stuff. Do some online guidance stuff. enjoy yourself. In the reality of the world though, no one is that important. Coaches, etc, Who cares?
If you're paid, do your job, if you don't like it, get a different job.
