She floated down hills, and flew up last hill. Great race!

OP.
Can we get an apology? What a great race.
Yes, her biomechanics aren't 'beautiful' in a classic sense but so what. People used to say Michael Johnson didn't look right.

Wow, that was slow
It’s been years since we’ve seen such a slow time
weather, course conditions, athletes?
The broadcasters said there had been some rain a few days before the race. I think Balboa runs fastest when it is bone dry. Still, a slower race than typical.
Regarding OP's point, people can absolutely reference them and a majority of Letsrun as being a shining example of the Dunning Krueger effect. You love to see it.
LOL...look at the results..

I am closer to LA than SD, and it did rain here on Thursday, been cooler and more damp than usual.
imagine betting on the field and losing
Mind changed yet?
“Coaches” that think they know everything by looking at form LOL. Get out of the dark ages.

Please everyone stop making excuses for a field that is just not as good as more recent ones. The broadcaster’s themselves said the weather and course is perfect. And I was at FL the year Sydney and Hart ran 17:00, and the night before it rained so hard that the Del Hotel flooded on the first floor and they were repairing the course all morning. So please, stop wondering why times were slow! The field was not as talented as the previous fields.

Again, perseverating on time. When are people going to realize that time doesn't matter in cross country?
Ok so maybe the times were slower up front but do times matter in XC? Is it always measured the same way? Are conditions always the same? Are tactics always the same?
Without looking back any further, more girls under 18 this year than in 2019. More under 18:30 too. Maybe Cook ran to win & could have stayed with some of the faster runners in 2019. Who knows but why come onto this website to complain about that.

If people are constantly talking about them then they absolutely do matter.
Lol. You can show yourself out.

because letsrunners would rather tear people down than praise a winner. Even if its a 17 year old kid.
"so and so won a loaded race after winning a series of other championship races in impressive times? yeah well not impressed because another runner existed in the past who would have been faster than her..."
this is the letsrun mantra. it comes from a deep seated sense of inferiority that has manifested into an online culture of tearing others down rather than having the balls to praise them for winning. comparing times across years and across different races and different courses is pointless. maybe we should just be impressed with a kid who pulled off a National Championship double crown. whens the last time we could say that?

Great post. To add to this point, there are a ton of sprinters with better form than bolt but guess who holds the wr? Over long distances, form matters even less. sprinters that have perfect running form and would get destroyed by a good number of stroller moms in a 5k. Let's focus on what actually matters instead of talking form all day.

Most college coaches do not look at CC times because they know so many courses are not correctly measured. It's CC, times shouldn't matter.
