Agreed x2. Has he announced when he'll debut at marathon?
Lmao. You didn't get the win here. I predicted 1:00:58 on the initial main thread, so I was closer. Solid debut here, everyone ran what was expected of them, meaning that Mantz is probably the best American half marathoner right now.
Conner should stay a 10k/half guy until at least 2024, then move up to the marathon for the next Olympics. Would be great if he could go 13 low and 27 low on the track this year to work on his speed, squeeze under 60 for a half, then pull a Rupp '16 and debut at the '24 marathon trials and crush everyone. I want a shirt featuring his oversized grimacing face.

Is everyone still asleep?? Don't see any other posts on this after all the build up and controversy for the last week about Conner going for the AR or not. Anyway, I predicted 1:00:40 on the initial main thread about him going for the AR.
This guy is going to be big. Can't wait to see him race in person.
It was also warmer than expected and that slowed down the times. They were slow across the board and if you read through Strava there were a lot of "not sure what happened" type comments with people running slower than expected
Closer to the women's world record than the men's world record. But this is still a fine debut and victory for a guy who caps off the year with 2 NCAA xc titles and a national half title. He could have run faster. Get him to a Valencia style race and I think he will go sub 60. In any case, he's had a couple weeks as a pro, if that. I look forward to seeing him run 2:07 or better in the next few years. He's got that toughness and endurance.
Lol. True about closer to women's WR than the men's. For 2022 he needs a couple 13 low 5000s in the spring to tune up his speed, maybe even a 1500. Then he'll slide onto our 10,000 team for Worlds in Eugene. Grant Fisher a lock, but other two slots up for grabs. After that, Conner a half/marathon guy. He'll never be a 26 10k guy, but he could be a 59/2:05 guy.
