The amount of times I've had a tech rep tell me that they're changing the pronunciation or dropping the one one is not insignificant although this is the first time I've seen it written. If you dig around you can find Hoka videos where they pronounce the name in both ways. They've had this thing going on back and forth since at least 2015 I think.

But we do dislike people like you who look for racist monsters under the bed. .
You tell 'em! I hate people like that, because they're always so serious and never yanking your chain.
I have to confess that while I know the proper pronunciation of Nike and ADIDAS, I have no I idea it wasn't One One. I just thought what a terrible name for Marketing.
It just doesn't matter.

Way to question-beg. Nobody is arguing that racism should be excused. They're arguing--correctly--that unintentionally mispronouncing a foreign word is not racist.
This awesome since nobody pronounced the old name correctly and it was pretentious.
It also leaves the door wide open now for someone to split off of a company in social media saturated blitz of slow-motion running videos for the new company named "On One".
I don't think there is a proper pronunciation of Adidas in the USA. It is the way most Americans use or the Eurotrash wanker way. Both works.
i was at a hoka sponsored meet, where the meet director did a mic check like "mic check 1, 2, 1, 2, hoka 1, 1, 1, 1"
What are you talking about? Have you ever had a conversation with Nico and/or Jean-Luc? They cleared less than a couple million dollars after HOKA was purchased by Deckers Corp. They cleared less than a couple mil each. This is well know. HOKA sold in like 2013 by the way when revenues were less than $20M.

How about we just turn this into a bashing of Naz Elite thread. But seriously, Ben Ratsario doesn’t know what he’s doing. And their carbon x are not even close to being as good as Nike’s super shoe.

it really took this long for Beaverton to realize there was a thread about another brand? This is really your first post?
It's easier to remember .... well that's onay onay way to look at it

Polynesian is not a race, its a culture.
It's both a race and a culture, but hoka one one is from Maori, which is awesome. Where the Maori come from you'll find the best trails and scenery.
I always thought it was Hoka "one" "one"... not on-ee on-ee... for a long time. lol
They just don't last.

your posts in this thread are some of the most moronic things i've ever read in my life.

Of all things to accuse someone of being racist for, this is certainly a very random one...
Why would saying, "1, 1" be racist against Polynesians? Is it because "o-nay, o-nay" is of Polynesian origin (if so, i certainly do not know this) and the assumption is that I use "1, 1" in order to not acknowledge Polynesian culture?
Certainly you must be trolling?
Seriously. Odds that this guy has ever heard a redneck intentionally mispronounce the full name of a niche running shoe brand in order to be racist against Polynesians = 0.
You mean the hillbillies in you area don’t run the local 5ks?

You're nuts to think "onay onay" was commonly known or that there was any heritage to it! I certainly didn't, and I have used Hoka trail shoes since 2014 or so. I only ever saw them advertised online, bought them online, and I don't race. How would I have ever known the history of the name or brand? In fact I even forgot they were called Hoke One One because you only ever see it referred to as Hoka online.

That Onay onay crap was mad corny I mean it’s kinda embarrassing to pronounce it like that I believe that’s the reason behind saying 1 1. I didn’t even know it wasn’t 1 1 at first but when finding out it was the corny onay onay I dropped it just to
Say Hoka, which is the right move by the company
