I live in the wonderfully blue paradise of the city of Columbus, which, apart from being too blue for me, is a good city otherwise. They have mask mandates for just the city in in place since 9/10/21. Does anyone think they will be permanent?
Ohio is weird--quite a few places are with mask mandates and quite a few are without, sometimes in neighboring cities. Delaware, to the north, and Powell County, do not have mask mandates but don't have unusually high case counts. Franklin County is hit or miss but the city of Columbus proper has mandates. Dublin does not (where I live).
I'm honestly pro-vax and am fine with the mandatory vaccines, so no issues there. I will not judge you if you get the vax or not; it's none of my business.
I am actually fine with mask mandates in hospitals and nursing homes (legit areas of concern and spread). But stores, parks, and businesses? I just see all the signs in bold print and it feels Orwellian.
It should be on an individual basis--if the business owner wants people to wear masks or not wear them, it should be up to his or her choice. (Always carry one around to be safe, though. I don't want to be one of those idiots who fights with people and gets arrested for protesting the mandate).
