Wow! This article proves my point. Fauci has been interviewed probably more than 1,000 times since this pandemic started. Probably closer to 2,000 times. He has meticulously avoided telling people that their health is their personal responsibility. He has seemingly purposely avoided telling people, "If you're obese, lose weight!" Let's analyze the article you cited.
1. It's an interview specifically about obesity so Fauci has to comment on obesity. Is he commenting on obesity every time he gets in front of a camera? No. In fact....
2. You found one in March eight months ago. What>!!? 64% of covid hospital admissions are obese and HE DOESN'T MENTION IT EVERY TIME HE GETS IN FRONT OF A CAMERA!! Where are the daily references to combating obesity?
3. Even in this interview specifically about obesity, he never says, "IF YOU'RE OBESE, LOSE WEIGHT." In fact, he makes excuses for people being obese! I'm not making this up!!! Look at all the "it's not your fault" phrases in these three sentences!
He says...That's really one of the unfortunate situations, and there are so many reasons for that, that date back from the time a person is a child, the kind of diet that they get exposed to. And it's particularly disproportionate in certain demographic groups. I mean, African-American, Latinx population—clearly almost certainly related to the lack of accessibility early on when their children [need] a completely varied and healthy diet."
I read this as him giving people an excuse for not losing weight. Where is the real doctor who really cares about the individual's health? Where does he say, "Hey. It's going to be hard, but you MUST lose weight if you want to reduce your risk of covid! Others have lost weight. You can do it, but you must start NOW!" HE SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT A DOZEN TIMES IN THAT INTERVIEW.... INSTEAD, NOT EVEN ONCE DID HE SAY IT. NOT. ONE. TIME.
I can't surf the news cycle without seeing an interview with Fauci. When has he ever said anything remotely like that? He needs to be saying it every time he gets in front of a camera!!! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Not just in a one-off interview directly addressing obesity eight months ago.
Look carefully at the article. The only references to combatting obesity are quotes from the CDC's website, not Fauci. Even those comments are pretty wishy-washy.
It's the same with vitamin D. In September 2020 about 40 minutes into an interview, Fauci was asked about vitamin D. He actually laughed and mealy-mouthed around the topic, basically denigrating vitamins in general, but eventually mentioning the HE TAKES VITAMIN D HIMSELF. Then, he's never mentioned it again. Not once.
Fauci is the most powerful person in the world when it comes to covid. He has the bully pulpit every day to admonish, inform, cajole, and empower people to take the personal responsibility to get healthier. He has failed miserably.
