The low covid case/death rates in Central Africa should be at the top of the list for researchers. Imagine how the world would change if we could all be as resistant to covid as Central Africa! But where is the research?! Let's look at the likely factors.
Age: This is big. Where are the age adjusted studies? I couldn't find any.
Weight: The lack of obesity by itself is not enough to account for the low rates.
Diet: Unknown. Where are the studies?
Widespread use of antiparasitic/antimalarial drugs in Central Africa: HCQ, chloroquine, ivermectin, etc: This is so political that it gets knee-jerk reactions instead of solid study.
Malaria: Does exposure/infection by malaria somehow convey some protection? It's been speculated, but I haven't seen any studies.
Vitamin D: Central Africans as a group have low D levels so it doesn't appear to be vitamin D.
Genetics: This could be studied by comparing case rates with Central Africans who have lived outside Africa for years or have never even been to Africa.
If this were a movie, Dustin Hoffman would be geared up in a biohazard suit in Central Africa searching for Patient X... the person who was unaffected in spite of multiple exposures... to discover why. Instead, we get this...
CDC/Fauci/Walensky: "Vax, mask, vax, mask, vax, mask!"
Lone journalist: "Hey, what about the low rate in Central Africa??!!"
CDC/Fauci/Walensky: (pauses. looks away.) "Vax, mask, vax, mask, vax, mask!"
Covid is a worldwide crisis. We should be looking at everything that's promising. Something in Africa could be a game-changer, but there seems to be little interest to find it.
