Lol already have. But you seem like a real expert--explain what is so impossibly difficult about recruiting? Especially what cannot be learned in a reasonably short period of time, but can only be acquired by natural gifts such as you possess?
Also recruiting is not that hard to figure out. Let's not overstate the skill level it takes to recruit. More about effort and enthusiasm imo
Lol ok buddy go win a championship then
Haha, winning a championship is done by recruiting well. But, lots of factors to recruiting well, first is scholarship money, if you spend most or all on distance you will always be good, having a great location for distance running also helps immensely, NAU certainly shows that, same with CU, although Wetmore is the best coach, develops US talent as well or better than anybody.

SMH.....Who said she was or needs to just spend most of the $ on distance? Only a distance only mentality person would spout that nonsense.

Exactly. Also, Its a D2 school with no brand and probably minimal budget that will recruit almost exclusively within that region. She's an immensely successful coach with connections to all of the regional HS coaches. Those connections are worth far more and would take much longer to establish than the simple skills of calling kids, organizing campus visits, etc.
Assistant Coach Will Crocker has taken the lead of the distance program for the time being. Unknown if the Flames will look to add a head coach or stick to Crocker.
Is a high school coach with 0 experience recruiting really that much of an upgrade?
I have coached against her for the last 8 yrs. She is one of the finest HS coaches in the business and has great rapport with HS athletes. No she has not recruited (but has certainly had a lot of athletes be recruited!) and no I can not guarantee that she will be a success but give her a chance. I think she will do great things there!
I don't disagree with you I was more commenting at the shot at Lamont basically.
She'll most likely be fine. I think he did a good job considering the institution. When you build a team that wins a conference title you're doing something right at least.
Recruiting does take a lot of effort and is very frustrating at times. Some high school coaches don't understand how consuming it really is especially at small schools that's why it probably won't be a "massive upgrade" especially considering what was built before
Love the dialog but as a HS coach I have to chime in. I have sat in on several recruiting visits, and I’m sorry but most are pretty bad to be honest. Making a lot of sales calls doesn’t make you a great salesman. It’s not a high bar that you’re asking a high school coach to get over. The advantage the HS coach has is they know why their athletes didn’t choose your program – it’s not always what you think While I’m at it, why are you guys so hard on a high school coach? I’ve been at my share of US championships and at least in the sprints and hurdles it seems like the same faces every year. Where are all those “elite college coaches” If this level of coaching so advanced I would think we would see you more often…just sayin
It's my understanding that Doug & Erica Fraley left WSU partly because of their private pole vault facility in Louisiana. I'm interested to find out why Yogi Teevens left, considering that her twins were on the team. Does that mean that the twins are in the transfer portal?
Where is Ashley heading? She did a great job at UIC
Have heard she could land somewhere in Minnesota - St Thomas, who is now a D1, is very much in play. Really no telling, very interesting move at the end of June. Assuming something is in place.

Yeah no chance you've won anything that matters. Not saying you have to be a gifted recruiter but don't act like it's easy. Otherwise everyone would have a "championship" like you.

Hmmm...
I think the greatest and most successful collegiate track and field coach would strongly disagree.

If you understand some sales basics, can communicate with people effectively, and are organized, it is easy to do. But in order to advance your program to a high level , you also have to 1) be diligent and consistent, 2) have a strong product to sell, 3) have some institutional advantages over your competition.
You're making it out to be some high-level skill that it just is not. The high school coach who posted earlier is correct, most college coaches who fail at recruiting are just lazy, inconsistent and poor communicators.
But please, keep talking. Keep revealing that you've probably never actually recruited and you're making assumptions from afar.

Recruiting ain't hard but it ain't easy either.
A HS coach can be just as good as the next if she/he has a personality but failure at it has a lot more to do with your #2 & #3 than your #1
