What contributed to this? How in the hell did he manage to leverage having conversations with other people and recording it into a 100 million dollar Spotify contract?
Quite impressive if you ask me.

Quite impressive if you ask me.
He appeals to a large swath of the population because he exists at the intersection of:
-Bro culture
-Meatheads
-Druggies
-Armchair philosophers
-Red Pillers
-Alt Right
-Older and younger generations that reject "woke" and "cancel" cultures
-Meat eaters
-Bow hunters
-Kettlebell Swingers
-Taekwondo people
-MMA people
Unfortunately with all of these subcultures combined, one also attracts a fair amount of low-educational-attainment, low-IQ, broscience fearmongers.
Interesting.
If you search anything about his “stand-up comedy” you always see people mentioning he is one of the worst comics on the scene.
But yet he manages to fill STADIUMS solely based on podcast fans no matter how bad his stand up comedy is. Guy has it made.
he got in on the ground floor and made a lot of videos . was famous enough to have connections but not famous enough to have something "better" to do with his time or to have too big of an ego to be a good interviewer
I found his stand up shows on Netflix hilarious, with exception to the one from 2020 or so
Wow, a lot of jealous people in this thread. Joe Rogan was very popular from his stand up comedy, Fear Factor, and announcing UFC. His success across multiple avenues allowed him to meet tons of celebrities and that helped him develop a more well-rounded list of guests for his podcast than his competitors.
He is insanely talented as an interviewer. His ability to connect with everyone is truly special. He can have 3 hour long conversations with all different types of people and it's interesting and entertaining. How many other people can have engaging conversations with socialist Bernie Sanders, nutcase Alex Jones, smoke weed with Elon Musk, Steve-O from Jackass, Kanye West, and physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson?
Ha, his comedy is awful.
He brings good enthusiasm to UFC commentating.

Interesting. I know several people that make seven figures a year because they are very very smart, and they like listening to Rogan. They also engage in some of your listed activities, and I know that one was an Obama voter... but coincidentally, sees right through Biden. Not surprising is your delusional self righteousness and your judgmental and defamatory shtbagness. But, what is tolerance, acceptance, and openmindedness to a 'liberal'? Your subservience to authority and control freak nature is completely disgusting.
Consider the other largest podcasts.
1. Absolute nobodies that nobody ever heard of with niche interests, ex. true crime stories.
2. Comedians: Marc Maron, Bill Burr, Conan OBrien
3. Politics: Ben Shapiro, Rachel Maddow, Pod Save America
4. News: NPR, NY Times
Rogan is a mix of 2 and 3, with a lot of 1 and 4 given by his guests.
He also does long episodes which probably appeals to most listeners just playing it in the background while they work.
I personally can't stand the way he does it in the small amounts I've seen. Sometimes he intentionally misinterprets what people say, or makes an unfair "ipso facto", or is genuinely unable to stop, pause and understand what the other person is saying. I am extremely far left compared to all most of LRC and Rogan's fanbase, but this inability to understand someone's point was even true when he interviewed Jordan Peterson.

most podcasters, most comedians, pretty much everyone with an IQ above 80..
I love how bro-dudes are so impressed with Rogan. You guys don't realize he is entirely there to sell you garbage.. coffee, supplements, dumbells (a little on the nose there), various THC products, Joe Rogan is what a stupid person thinks a smart person is. He reminds of the dumba$$es in college who would sit in the quad, get ripped and spew some stuff about kierkegaard they just learned that day.

These people are interesting in a room by themselves. Rogan stumbles through conversations with them and idiots think it's great. Don't sell yourselves short. YOU could very likely have a more interesting and constructive conversation with anyone on that list.

This. People like the long form; you can kind of settle into his podcasts and enjoy the ride. He’s calm, positive, and genuinely curious.
Also, his stuff is not narrative driven for the most part, and it’s not politicised or tribal.
I used to listen to Rogan because he had interesting guests and it was pure entertainment.
His show lost me somewhere along the line.
I like listening to TT Boy interviews now on youtube now. He kind of reminds me what I found entertaining about Rogan's old shows. I will probably tire of him too. He interviews people and they give their life story in about two hours. I hear about people's lives that are completely different than my own and I would have never normally hear about their life outside the show.

No, you're definitely a fool. And, your inclusion of 'Trump' into a thread that has no mention prior, is indicative of your delusion, perpetual anger, and mental illness.
Rogan built up a brand from his Fear Factor days and more predominantly his UFC involvement. He was willing to expose the truths that the Liberals/mainstream media were attempting to hide. People respected his willingness to do research and expose the truth/fraud Liberal narratives.

Can you genuinely not think of one reason for not enjoying a podcast (or not liking someone) other than jealousy?

Rogan is far left, too. But he's honest enough to call out crap from Democrats in addition to republicans.
Jordan Peterson has been on the podcast 4 times and they are some of Rogan's most viewed/listened podcasts ever. All the comments and the like/dislike ratio are EXTREMELY positive. Peterson obviously thought Rogan gave him a fair interview seeing as he came back 3 times after the initial one.
