Doesn't matter how much Brady is worth or his wife is worth or how much the Buccaneers are worth, right is right, and people are not entitled to unearned success. The only correct thing to do there is for the fan to give the ball back.
If you want $500,000, go make $500,000. Neither Brady nor the team is obligated to give a fan ANYTHING just because he has possession of a football.
The reason I included the part about net worth is because it looks chincy that Brady and the Bucs gave the fan $1000 when they're literally worth millions and billions and got that money from *fans*. Sports is an entertainment industry. And this fan was legitimately given something that was worth $500,000+. What is the right thing for the Bucs or Brady to do? When showing gratitude, rightness is often based on public perception.
I don't have to tip at a restaurant, but it is expected to give 15%. What is right? I have the right to leave no tip if I think the service is lousy or even if I think the American system of tipping is offtrack and restaurants should pay their servers, not me the customer separately.
Is it right for Brady and the Bucs to tip the fan $1k when they took something that was worth $500k from him? Something the organization via the WR had given the fan?
