The Turkish cross country championships took place this past weekend in Adana near the Syrian border and I was astonished to read the differential between first Place in 29:34 and 10th Pl. in 39:48 meaning there was a 10 minute differential between the winner and the 10th placer which is absolutely huge and almost unprecedented!
Could any Turkish forum users explain the situation as to why there’s such a lack of depth in Turkey at this time? The second question I have is where are the Turkish Kenyan and Turkish Ethiopian runners and why did they not compete? Might COVID-19 protocols have had something to do with this lamentable situation?
Thank you.
