Back to the Boise Marathon, a couple of points. In the current Covid environment probably difficult to get corporate sponsors of size. Late October is not ideal for a marathon in Boise, climate can be a factor, as it was. Yesterday was rainy, cold, nasty day. Lastly, a Sunday race in Idaho? Big church day in this state. Hard to get both volunteers and participants. My understanding was the previous sponsors of this race were largely out-of-staters. Not sure about this group.
serious marathoners, with the exception of Mormons skip church for their goal race. Almost every serious long distance race is on Sunday. I can see volunteers being difficult to get, but good on Boise for not turning into Utah light.
OK, I am not a church goer, run a large number of races including marathons, but rarely on a Sunday. There is no LDS ban for racing on a Sunday that I am aware of.
