NIRCA Nationals are in Shelbyville, Indiana in two weeks. If they run, ain't no one gonna' beat Nick Wolk of Pitt (just cruised a 25:01 8K at Lehigh for Regionals and is former 4:05/13:53 guy at Pitt D1) or Savannah Carnahan of Princeton (ran 21:50 6K at Lehigh Regionals, won by nearly a minute and is a former 19:48 for 6K in XC, 15:45 on track at Furman). Prove me wrong....
Yep. Nirca winners are typically former NCAA ringers in grad school or who just had to transfer for some academic/financial reason.
This is why the NIRCA team races are more interesting. Teams may have a former D1 guy in the front like Wolk, but they also need to have depth behind him to be competitive for the team title. And based on Pitt's performance last weekend, they do have some depth. Whether they can beat perennial power houses like Michigan remains to be seen.
Yeah, Pitt had their top 7 in the top 17 overall, impressive.
