What is the WR for a 400m run clockwise on a track?
I bet no one could go sub-46.

Depends on which hemisphere they're in. You'd run faster clockwise in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere.

Love this argument. By extension, we should expect to see times in the traditional (counterclockwise) 400 and 400H somewhat faster in races north of the equator than south of it. So in standardizing 400 and 400H times, perhaps we should be compensating for latitude as well as altitude?

I've been thinking for years that sprint races around a curve are kind of silly. Especially the 200m, which imo is a ridiculous event. (No shade to the athletes, just talking about the event itself.) Blasting out of blocks, accelerating, and the first 100m on a CURVE? Gimme a break. Back in the day, they used to run the 220y on a long straightaway, for good reason.
Seems to me that the 200, 400, and 400H would all be better on a long straightaway. Of course, the layout for such a facility would probably make it a no-go for most areas.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
