Shoes? Sure. PED'S. For sure.
careful, my post got deleted for saying exactly the same thing. even the op got modded for saying 'she earned it'.
weird.
Every thread regarding an outstanding performance is going to contain PED accusations. It's boring and it's not as if other posters haven't already considered the possibilty.

Doesn't Gidey now own the world record at 5000m, 10000m, 15k, and half marathon? Has that ever been done before? And what a series of records! 5000m-14:06, 10000m-29:01; 15k-44:20 (this was at "7 Hills!"; today 44:29 enroute!); half marathon-1:02:52. Who can doubt that she will add the marathon to the list?
The shoes account for minutes but they do not account for her margin over her competition in super shoes.
Yup, she’s on track to becoming the greatest woman distance runner of all time.
Sure humidity and heat in Tokyo, but she just ran 2:58/km for 21.1km when she couldn't break 3:00/km for 10km? That's a stunning improvement/turn around of form. Could Sifan run 62:00? Or did Gidey find that many gears August to October?

Her pace was 29:49 which is equal to being 7th on the all-time 10000m list. It seems that running with the new shoes on the road is significantly faster than running on the track.
60’15 for Moen
61’00 for Lara the American written about
There is doping in the sport but not everybody is doping. The minority not the majority. And for the elites with out of competition tests very hard to cheat. Her time is legit. I think American's are quick to yell cheating because they are defensive about USA 's poor performance on the international level.
How about Wang Junxia s 8:06 3K from 1993?
I ran Valencia Half this morning and let me tell you something. I was quite surprised by how ridiculously fast it was. Perfect conditions, wore VF2s and managed to PR by almost 2 minutes.
Up close she looks dam powerful.
Incredible race!
and somehow we are to pretend that the olympics are more important than a race like this.

Just watching Letesembet Gidey running on the streets of Valencia is one the most beautiful thing you can see watching an human being running. Perfection , harmony, relaxation at a brutal speed of 2'58/km. and yes this the greatest performance ever in running!!!! This performance is so other wordly and so great and Gidey so perfect and beautiful that makes any talk about doping be irrilevant..........
2) Raddcliffe 2:15 is nowhere near to Gidey 1:02:52. The latter is a lot more stronger
Yes, Gideys running form is outstanding and superb. It is part of her winning formula.

That was a tactical race. She ran only as fast as she needed to drop all those but the last 3 (including her), saving it for a kick. She doesn't have one, at least compared with Hasan (no surprise as Hasan has run 1.56 for 800m).
Gidey is a time-trial/pacer type of runner. A very good one it appears, and the longer the better perhaps. We'll see when (not if) she runs the Marathon. She could run anywhere from 2h11 to 2h15, but then T.Dibaba has only (?!) run 2h17, when I might have suspected better (but she had a kick over 5k/10k).

Why are the Valencia courses so fast?
Do we know who’s coaching Moen these days? Nice result!
What we be an equivalent men's performance? 57:00 ?
Are there any letters of the alphabet not used at least twice in these women's names?
Top Women’s Results
1) Letesenbet Gidey 62:52
2) Yalemzerf Yehualaw 63:51
3) Sheila Chepkirui 64:54
4) Brenda Jepleting 65:44
5) Bosena Mulata 66:00
An athlete in one of the most doped up sports going runs an incredible time, beating the times of other dopers, and its cynical to question it? It's doping. As Ma's army showed, chemistry easily trumps talent at this level.
