This place used to be for people who ran on the track. If they ran a marathon, they were well under 3 hours.
Slowly but surely, the 3 hour + types have come to dominate this board.
Sad!

Cool, let's continue to make this place even less welcoming to anyone who doesn't fit inside a tiny box.
Good work.

20 years ago this board was dominated by collegiate wannabes and trolls who used to lie about their mileage, prs, and promising talent.
Watch out for their next race because workouts indicate they’re in XX:XX shape and Over-ranked/Over-rated U is in serious trouble!
Based on simple averages, most runners posting were in the past, are currently today, and will in the future by 3+ hour guys. I suspect in the past people were too ashamed to admit they were slow and they all said they were 3:58 milers, 13:40 5kers, and 2:15 marathoners. I bet you had triple the amount of 2:15 marathoners in existence posting on the boards saying they run 2:15 easy.
Three hours is considered extraordinary these days. Five-phour marathoners demand respect and get it.

You’re welcome to your own opinion, but of course you will post links to your certified race results showing how fast you run? Didn’t think so.

I would never run a marathon if I felt I didn’t have a chance of running under 3 hrs.
I don’t see the point in the accomplishment (yes, I know that’s arbitrary). But mostly because running so long just isn’t any fun.

What’s the furthest you’ve run? A 3 hour run might be the spice your running is missing.
You’ll never know unless you try.

Good work.
Why should this be "welcoming" to everyone? If you don't like it just leave.
While it's unfortunate that you don't have the endurance to last as long as other people, there's no need to feel sad and dominated about it. There are treatments available for people like you who tend to finish prematurely.

Ok then, enjoy your message board full of middle aged washed up white dudes who are largely lying about their running times.

DocLorna is a prime example. 0 track credentials. Hobby jogger mentality. Appears out of nowhere, no knowledge of the sport, tries to 'fit in' to this community.
Just go away already!

This place is full of judgemental bum Canadians who ran one 8k and one 10 miler two decades ago.

It looks like I hit a nerve. Even though I NEVER comment on the running discussions, I read them all and learn a lot.
Op, post ur PRs...
Around the same time it got saturated by all the Q-Anon types.
It's hard to train a sub 3 marathon when you're plotting how to assassinate Fauci.
