No system, they can't shoot and poor defense tonight. Nevertheless they'll make the playoffs and will be dangerous because of talent.
LeFlop and the Drama Queens.
Howard and Davis had to be separated before the game even started. Lakers were down by 31 in 3Q. Lost by 10.

I gave up on following the Lakers shortly after LeBron arrived. He is one of the biggest talents ever in the NBA, but it quickly became obvious that he had moved to LA to hobnob with the entertainment industry crowd and promote his production company. He has been phoning in his basketball efforts since his arrival and trying to work the refs and the league office to cover for it.
Outside of Anthony Davis, the Lakers' roster looks like the 2011 NBA All-Star team, with a couple of G-Leaguers thrown in.
Westbrook doesn't fit at all. Carmelo Anthony was done as a serious player 4 years ago. Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan are empty husks. Rajon Rondo? Please...

The same thing has happened to many teams in all of the major sports. I didn't know that LeBron is the Lakers GM.

Yes LeBron is the de facto GM of the Lakers. Surely you are no fan of the sport if you did not know this.

It's the team owner's money and not LeBron's. The Lakers GM is Rob Pelinka, but I guess all he does is make the coffee. Sports are a business and not run the way you think they are.

You are the one who has no clue. Educate yourself. LeBron has largely chosen the roster.

I did some research and couldn't find a single article that supports your claim that LeBron is pulling the strings for the Lakers. Can you name a single key player where LeBron demanded that he play for the Lakers?
I read through the entire thread just to confirm that there is not a single mention of the fact that the Lakers won the title with LeBron and Anthony Davis just last year, the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season. So, LeBron's not done too badly as a GM, if that's what he is. All told, he has won four titles with three different teams, two with Miami, one with Cleveland, against a superteam that had won 72, and one with the Lakers. Add to that the fact he's been All-NBA something like 15 seasons, multiple MVP's, top 75 all-time (really top ten, top five for almost everyone, and for some the greatest of all-time), multiple all-defense teams, the future all-time leading scorer, and reinvented his position. So, the fact that this year's Lakers squad is 0-2, 0-7 including the preseason, doesn't change his legacy. And I predict this team will be tough in the playoffs, though it remains to be seen whether they can mesh with Westbrook. I doubt that Dwight Howard will still be on the team by the end of the season.

Of course this information will not be made public. But LeBron is the biggest name in the NBA. Do you really believe he has no input about who he plays with or even who coaches the team? Do you really think the Lakers will bring in a player that LeBron does not want on the team? Come on.

Giving input and making the decision are different things. This article states that LeBron is asked for his opinion:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.silverscreenandroll.com/platform/amp/2021/6/13/22532208/lakers-rob-pelinka-2021-nba-free-agency-plans-lebron-james-anthony-davis-frank-vogelThe OP he refers to the team LeBron built, but occasionally objecting to a player is not doing that.
Aztec you have no idea what goes on. Do you think the GM is going to admit publicly that he defers to LeBron in personnel decisions?

As a Californian you should remember when Magic got a coach fired.
Remember the chants of "Lebron's gonna trade you" last year whenever Kuzma touched the ball. The great players have that type of clout. Lebron built this team.
The Heat got off to a slow start initially with Lebron, and so did the Cavs when he rejoined in 2015. It turned out fine and I'm guessing it will here, too.

Except LeBron is no longer the best player in the league.
