Tragic accident similar to those that killed Brandon Lee and Jon-Erik Hexum. It begs the question, since gunshot sounds are added post-production and with advances in CGI, why are we still using squibs and blanks? Teach actors to "act" the recoil of weapons and then add barrel flashes and smoke in post with CGI.

The irony is how liberal Hollywood preaches anti gun yet their movies are filled with gun violence. Guns used safely to hunt and protect oneself are appropriate. However they rarely portray this responsible use of them. Looks like Baldwin’s chickens have come home too roost.
What crap. Guns and violence are part of story telling. You can be 100% against owning most or even all guns and still make a movie that involves guns. Giving Baldwin any grief here is so unkind to say the least. Until we hear otherwise, this appears to have been a tragic accident, and he was reportedly in tears and grief-stricken. Have some humanity.

We know two people were shot on movie set. We know a women is dead. Of course Alec Baldwin had no malice. A thorough investigation by law enforcement is needed. Why is everyone assuming it was an accident? At U.S. Civil War reenactment, one or more individuals on more than one occasion have brought live ammunition. With so many rifles fired simultaneously, too difficult to determine who used live ammo and who did not. Let us see if there is an investigation before everyone says this was a terrible accident.

Thanks, Flagpole. Killing someone takes a lifelong toll on your psyche unless you are a true sociopath/psychopath. This is horrible for all involved.
Not surprisingly, this has brought out the LRC band of keyboard tough guys. Always quick with a moronic take, usually based on personal politics, but they are mostly timid little office drones and insecure midpack runners that fear every little niggle and come here to have their training plans/life choices/personal beliefs validated by strangers.

What crap. Liberals preach that Americans shouldn’t have guns, then make millions of $$$$ glorifying guns.
Would you be this forgiving if Baldwin wasn’t a hard core liberal? Was Dick Cheney deserving of our humanity when he shot someone? At least he didn’t kill them. Baldwin shot a woman, for Christ’s sakes.
not a fan of baldwin and his self righteous politics, especially considering that he is widely reported to be an a-hole. but I just can't attack him over this. it's tragic for all parties involved.
that's not to say there wouldn't be a million people on the left exclaiming their vitriol towards a Donald Trump if the same thing happened to him.
This isn't a left/right problem. It's a human problem.

You must be a big Alec Baldwin fan.

They shoot and kill bad guys intentionally.
I support them 100%
Why would anyone not be supportive of their work? Unless you are a criminal.
Judge, Jury, Executioner. I for one am glad we put absolute power in the hands of anyone who passes the rigorous and thorough training to write speeding tickets.

You should try logic sometime.
You should try glowing less. Why would anyone not check a gun before firing, even if it’s a prop gun? Story has holes all over the place.

Why was he pointing a gun at anyone that isn’t in his scene? No sympathy for him. He touts his holier than thou crap and gets karma.

How do you people think movies get made? Is every camera shot just like a stick drawing with al lthe people in it?
It seems quite obvious that this was a generic movie reverse shot, whre the camera is focused on the actor, who looks like he's looking directly at th eother person, when he's actually facing the camera. He shoots in that direction, and it looks like he's shooting the other character.
And who would be standing near the camera?
The director.
And the cinematographer.
This site is like what would happen if RedState had a sports section.

+1 Couldn't be more obvious, but there are a lot of knuckleheads here.

People are ignoring the fact two people got shot.
How did that happen.
And neither was an actor so there was no need to be pretending to shoot someone as part of the movie.
Lots of questions here.
I get the feeling the answers will not be forthcoming

To be fair, we didnt attack Dick Cehney, we more just made fun of him. If you could have guessed anyone would shoot their friend by accident you would have chosen the dark lord Cheney. It was funny, not so much 2nd ammendment fodder. (the guy survived)

Obvious answer a couple posts above. Tons of scenes in movies have guns pointed at and firing at the camera. Have you ever watched anything? Who would be standing behind the camera? The camera woman behind the camera and the director who needs to see it from that vantage point.

This would explain a lot. But holy hell, is this still where we are in movies? Real rounds? And hoping nothing goes wrong? Why do you need the bullet at all? I know why you have the charge, but why the bullet?
He aimed it at her from very close range because he was upset about having to do another take. His volatile temper and lack of basic gun safety knowledge resulted in a woman's death and severe injury to the director.
