I ran the Hamptons Marathon two weeks ago and felt like I tore my hamstring around mile 20 but finished anyway. My hamstring feels better but I have since been dealing with some ITBS in the same leg that has been quite frustrating. As a result, I have spent the last two weeks basically running every other day for a total of about 40 miles a week. I’m quite eager to get back to training for my next marathon. How much fitness did I lose in those two weeks of only running every other day? I also stepped on the scale for the first time and gained five pounds from race day. I know I am probably overthinking this, but it was my first time breaking 2:50 in a long time, and I’m excited to get back to training again and am just worried about my last two weeks off. I also realize that it might sound silly that I care this much and am that excited about only a sub 2:50. I’m really not naturally gifted with running and didn’t run in college, so that sub 2:50 took a lot of work for me.
