Today I ran a 5k and hit 17:37. I am a junior in high school and looking towards dropping that to under to under 17 minutes this year and under 16 as of senior year. I know the process will be hard but I don't know or have any training plans. My freshmen year I hit 17:46, my sophomore year I brought it down to 17:44, and this year I have it down to 17:37. I am somewhat disappointed that I've been running around the same rage since freshman year. For reference, I ran the mile once during track season sophomore year (it was cancelled freshmen year due to covid) and hit 4:40, and that was coming off an injury and a month of no training. I also ran the 400m (low 52) and the 200m (high 23). My time trias 800 was 2:07 and I could have brought it down to low 2s if not sub 2 if I was put in it.
I have districts in 4 days and if I place top 15, I make regionals. After that, i'm doing indoor track and the outdoor track. Does anyone have a training plan for me?
