Huh? Where are you getting your numbers from? Florida had twice the number of cases as new york on the date you mentioned.
Florida is done with it, that’s the difference. There are a lot of people you can push around in the World, and this experiment has been living proof, but Florida citizens are not in that group. Your rhetoric and methods of madness are meaningless here. We only help the others in their fight, as great Americans do.

You live in West Palm Beach, a blue county. Most people there are vaccinated and wear masks. I live in Dade County, also a blue county. Broward is a blue county. You're spouting nonsense.
We are all tired of this. But it's folks like you who keep this thing lingering. And Florida has had how many surges now? This will continue to be an issue in Florida until something is actually done. DeSantis is a clown. Another member of the clown show.
Anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers are great at making arguments for vaccines and masks while they think they are doing the opposite.

Vaccines are great. Masks are stupid.
I am very confused here. I live in the northeast, there are no lockdowns here.
Everything is open. I voluntarily wear a mask inside certain places, but nowhere is requiring it around me. Just went to a big wedding and didn't even have a mask on the trip.
Do people think there are lockdowns in the northeast? We are free thanks to the vaccine. Not worried about covid, my job, or anything else. I just masklessly go to church and pray for those in Florida who are suffering.

This has been my experience living in a highly vaccinated area. I virtually never wear a mask anymore. And if a place asks me to, I put it on and move on with my life. Are these people on the left and right fretting over COVID non-stop just a loud small minority? I don't really experience this at all in my day to day life.

Um...Florida has the third most deaths of states behind only California and Texas, neither of which are in the Northeast.
And the CDC still labels transmission in Florida as "Substantial".
What kind of delusion are you under?
Counting “total deaths” is idiotic. Of course CA and Texas and Florida are top 3 in total deaths…they are the top three most populous states. I know you’re smart enough to realize this argument is disingenuous at best.
Per capita, Florida is behind NY, NJ, MA, and RI, and quality of life has certainly been better in FL for the last two years.
Vaccines work. Masks don’t. It’s obvious.
The demography is very different as well, w more elderly and higher-melanin races living in the three states mentioned, which is another reason citing total deaths is disingenuous.
The vaccines work, yes, for a period of time, after which humoral immunity wanes big time. So we can’t really say they “work” yet. We don’t know the long game.
Scandinavia has vaxxed their populations up to 70%, so pretending they are and have been open sans vaccination is also disingenuous.
America isn’t too far behind, w 77% of eligible citizens having received at least one dose, and we should hit that 70% fully dosed mark soon enough. However, we are also ignoring the massive natural immunity acquired in this latest, and hopefully last wave of Covid. Very dishonest.
Scandinavia did what we failed to do. They mostly protected their elderly, which are the group that needs the vaccinations and boosters the most. Another disingenuous comparison to Scandinavia is that America has far, far more obesity and obesity-related comorbidities. This is and always has been the greatest vulnerability. That no public officials were out in front of this pushing high dose vit C, D, zinc, quercetin, high quality ionic iodine, healthy eating, exercise, & sunshine is the greatest travesty of all.
The medical orthodoxy is tyrannical and sad.
Look, they did nothing, and their death rate is among the lowest!
Everybody died already, yeah, but just look!
The most remarkable thing about Florida's delta variant surge is they were racking up Covid-19 deaths at a higher rate than did New York back in the spring of 2020.
Masks are a key element as well. Florida just had 18,000 deaths in the delta surge vs. very few in highly vaccinated states that also practice distancing and mask wearing. In other words, Florida has been a complete disaster from the point at which the ability to do something about this has been clear. That's three waves (last summer, last winter, and this summer, the worst yet) SINCE Florida re-opened. And the total COVID dead since that May reopening last year by DeSantis is about 54,000.
Florida, the only state that releases data once a week and does it in a way designed to make it look like the state is always on the downside of a spike.

Same. I live in CA, supposedly the worst state in the universe according to those that don’t live here. There are no lockdowns, no mask mandates, and no vaccine mandates. I live my life unvaxxed and unmasked. I don’t understand why others can’t do the same and make a big deal about it? I don’t shout at people, I don’t argue with people. I quietly make my own life choices and respect the choices of others.
Why can’t we all be like me?
Even now, after much of the Delta wave has receded, Florida still has the second highest recent daily average of deaths at 170 per day and the seventh highest recent rate of daily deaths. So, we are not even out of the woods, despite cases having finally plummeted.
Just so you know Florida takes upwards of 6 weeks to report deaths and then assigns them to the date that the person dies. The rapid fall off isn't a fall off at all it is just a delay in the reporting.
I just visited Cali. Got ready for the trip, packed everything and just added photo of vax card and masks to my packing list. And just like the extra pair of shoes I brought, both of those went unused in California. No big deal.
I am utterly perplexed by the people who seem so put out from very easy to follow and light regulations.

Because they are part of some of the softest most selfish group of Americans in the history of this country. Look no further to them saying being forced to wear masks is them being treated like Jews in a Nazi concentration camp.

The fact is that they make this argument that its actually the principle of the matter. That the state control is like Nazi control over the Jews in Germany.
This is the same group of people who want a national registry of Muslims because of terrorism.
They are certainly willing to bend on "freedom" when it comes to others, but not when it comes to themselves.

This. I have many family in FL, including a sister who almost died. The FL gov reports numbers in a way that only allows one to see *retroactively* that its hospitalizations and deaths have been through the roof.
But it works, no doubt. The key for DeSantis is winning his next election, and he most likely will. A few thousand avoidable Floridian deaths is a small price for that, and he's willing to pay it.
