Don’t wear the watch if it’s ruining the experience for you
Your GPS watch will ALWAYS register more distance than you ran. As you run, your arms go back and forth, continuously adding distance. When you wear your watch on your wrist, it maximizes the extra distance it moves. Try wearing your watch around your upper bicep and you will get more accurate readings. If the band won't reach around (it probably won't) just thread a shoelace through the holes in the watch band and tie it. Or you can do what I do; just remove the watch band and duct tape the watch to your chest.
