But for people that actually want to learn something, I will add the following:
Yes, your point is right but not in the big picture. It is right for the duration of exercise performed at that time., they may burn about the same amount of calories (not going to repeat what you already said).
But, what you are missing is that exercise which promotes muscle growth (i.e.: shorter/faster workouts and hills, and strength training in general), has the added benefit of increasing one's metabolism, as another poster said, and burning calories throughout your day - not just during the workout. The slower and longer runs burn calories only during the workout.
That is why some of us are saying to do both.
