Hi I will coach you for free. This is what I want you to do for six months.
First three months
1. Run one hour a day
2. One day a week run a threshold
3. One day a week run a progression
Last three months
1. Run one hour a day
2. One day a week run a threshold
3. One day a week run intervals at or faster than race pace OR race
That’s it. That’s all you need. Everything else a coach will try to sell you is bologna.
Surprised there wasn’t more recommendations.
Hey Masters_Runner11,
I will coach you! I can send you my CV if you are interested, but here's a summary:
Exercise Physiology, PhD - I am an expert in heat-induced skeletal muscle adaptation and contractile function, as well as the determinants of endurance performance
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA): I personal train/coach individuals as sort of a side gig (its a passion of mine). Most of my time is spent in the lab (muscle research at local med school), but I am a running/fitness nerd.
I'm a younger 'masters' runner at age 38, but I've found my own training has brought me new PRs at both the 3k and 5k (9:50 and 16:45, respectively) just this last year! I am a pretty average runner, (11:16 3200 and 18:40 5k in HS), so working towards these PRs have been a great motivator for me!
Freaky Friday is not that far off with his training recommendations, but if you would like something a little more personalized and specific to you, just reach out!
I don't know if he is available for hire, but Jamin thinks he can at least do a better job coaching than Joan Hunter.
So if he's willing to take your money, then the answer is Jamin.
