Wear what you want! It's an absolute sea of alphaflys and vaporflys these days.

Just do it.
100% yes. Saw a ton of people wearing them at Berlin who were closer to 5 hours.
Of course you should run in them! They are for anyone trying to run their best, they are not solely for the best!! I have next%'s and i didn't buy them for the longest time because i am old school and still wanted to be able to compare my times as i got older to when i was younger. I can still do that by racing not only in super shoes but also lacing up regular old racers every so often too. What made me buy them was you are at a distinct disadvantage if you do not wear them.
I would try the super shoes on tempo runs and Long runs and see how they feel. For me they feel good even if the super shoe bounce effect isn’t of much benefit. I’ve even been surprised how my legs are not that super sore after using super shoes in track workouts
I would! I wore them at CIM in 2018 at 48 years old. The vaporflies were only orange then and I'd say more than half of the runners had them on. My feet and legs felt really good after that race and I ran 3:15 thinking I'd run 3:20. If I ever run another marathon I'd wear them for sure.
Go for it, and pull a CJ Albertson.
But, in all seriousness, go for it. As they say, be the best you that you can be!
Everyone will benefit at minimum from better cushioning. There are a lot of people running 5 plus hours wearing a pair. Nothing to be embarrassed about.
to all... how are they on dirt trails? other surfaces?
Finally...someone said it...just do it! :))

I felt out of place at Boston, Monday because I wasn't wearing some sort of super shoe. use what you want.
This. They are extremely common throughout the pack at any marathon, and even at smaller events like local half marathons and 10ks. People are also running in Tempos and Invincibles.
They also don't look that unusual when you're wearing them, tbh. If it's in your peripheral vision a lot of colourways are easily mistaken for Pegs and so on, but even stack height isn't that high.
Go for it.
Honestly why not. Feel like tons of people had them at Boston. Not everyone is in their late-20s/early-30s & shooting for an OTQ. Age matters. Your still chasing a BQ. The shoes will be faster than your Peg Turbos. Just make sure to do a few runs in them. There's also recovery benefits to wearing them.
Yes do get a pair but do an 18 to 20 mile run in them if you have any left in your training plan before your marathon. You want to be sure they are right for you before your big race.
As everyone else has said, why not?
There is some nonsense in this thread though:
1 - the shoes don't have an effect on slower runners... It's been shown to be the opposite, they have a greater effect on slower runners.
2 - The shoes are springs, they're more like levers than springs.
Good luck!

Agreed. I will add:
3. it is the foam and not the plate that makes the time improvement.
The hype is real, nothing to consider. If you can afford them just buy the Vapourfly .
When I ran some of Chicago on Sunday, I started with a group of folks mostly around your time goal. I think about 35-50 percent of those around me were wearing super shoes. I say go for it! Not only can super shoes help you run a bit faster, the recovery after wearing such shoes can be better. I like the saucony endorphin pro - did a hard effort in them wed. night and then woke up and was able to run 10 miles on thursday. I don't think my 10 miles would have gone as well if I used my trusty brooks for the speedier session.
I would however recommend you first practice some harder, longer stuff in your super shoes before wearing them for a whole marathon. I tried the next percent's and they DID NOT work with by feet/lower legs.

IMO the foam IS a spring. The plate acts like a lever.
Wear them, don’t think twice. But one thing to keep in mind when you try them out for a couple miles before the race: they don’t feel great when you are just jogging slowly. I almost felt like I was running in quicksand the first time I tried them. But when you have them on for a race, particularly a marathon, they are a total game-changer.
I don't know why anyone would want to run for 4 hours, especially paying an entry fee
