Let’s talk about what’s good about letsrun.
I love it because I bloody miss the Jesus-God 10 milers with the boys. 20+ years ago and I can still remember the mix of absurd, deep, sad, and flat out madness that is 5-15 very fit dudes chit-chatting on the run for an hour each day. You would voluntarily go out and wreck yourself on the regular for these guys. The boards have shades of this ‘Here’s a thought, what do you guys have to say about it?’ Runners are, on average, more interesting than normal humans. People who think, sometimes absurd thoughts, but thinking happens. And there is a tenderness and a brutality to the dialogue that takes time to learn, but is a very interesting game. I occasionally get out with an old team mate for a ‘fat dad jog’ but it’s just not the same, and never will be. Content with the shadows.
