An important event or merely a preoccupation of Anglo-Centric historians?

It's pretty important. Anglocentric historians are pretty important, too.
I would say a pow wow at the same year among the plains Indians to settle hunting grounds rights was more significant. Indigenous Peoples you know. But since they didn’t write it down we will never know for sure.😷
More like Franco-centric historians. The Frenchies won.
The Anglos have been under their Norman boots ever since, and quite salty about it. Affects their behavior all the time.
Kind of a dickish question, OP.
France and English history are joined.
“During the century and a half which followed the Conquest, there is, to speak strictly, no English history.
Macaulay”
If the Battle of Hastings had not taken place you would not be able to ask that question.
Because the language you wrote it in would not have come into existence.
Perhaps equally as important is stamford bridge. We might all be speaking Norwegian right now had that one gone the other way. Anyways, Harald Hardrada's life story is pretty fascinating, from commander of the Varangian guard, blinding an emperor, and then becoming king of Norway, he finally was defeated in an invasion of England.
The lefty marxist commie goal is fill academia with historians who teach false history to the young so to pollute their minds with false information and indoctrinate them with propaganda against all the good the West has accomplished.

The Danes spoke basically the same language, and didn't eradicate English despite taking over most of England.
Any event with an intact 230 foot-long, still extant tapestry is worthy of being considered "important" in my book:
"The Bayeux tapestry is one of the supreme achievements of the Norman Romanesque .... Its survival almost intact over nine centuries is little short of miraculous ... Its exceptional length, the harmony and freshness of its colours, its exquisite workmanship, and the genius of its guiding spirit combine to make it endlessly fascinating."

No.
Some want to teach more than just the "West." & some want to fairly critique actions taken during that history. I think you're just mad because history is changing in the US from purely a study of the greatness of white people to include other races/cultures/perspectives. Stop fear mongering. There is nothing marxist about that. We need to have a 101 about definitions if you want to use words just to instill fear.
important to whom?
to me mostly for English as it should, everything changed and old went away almost never to been seen again
Hastings influenced Magna Carta, which influenced the U.S. Constitution,
is the the Huns again, those Orientals from Middle Asia?

Last time we lost a war, how's that going for you fatty?
Its importance outwith the south east of England is generally over-stated. Norman influence took a long time to reach the outermost parts of Britain and in some places, arguably never did.
Likewise, the influence of Scandinavian culture and language is generally under-stated, due to a London and south east of England centric view of the UK.

Revolutionary War? And practically every military involvement since WWII.
Nazi Germany occupied the British Channel Islands between Great Britain and France.
Last invasion of the mainland was by Dutch prince Willem Hendrick van Oranje in 1688 who became King William III of England and King William II of Scotland

And the Japanese captured the Commonwealth of the Philippines and occupied part of Alaska. Both were US Territories at the time.
European history really is by far the most Important because it Has conquered the world. It is and was vital for the most of the state the world is in today and was exported in most corners of the world. As such you cant really be euro centric enough
