This is ridiculous, it is her parents fault, they pushed her into this. After her freshman year where she split 2:03 at the outdoor HS nationals leading her team to the 4 x 800 title (3 frosh and a soph), then the next day ran a subpar mile finishing 6th. Her parents went to the Bronxville HS coach and told him she wasn't running relays anymore because it took away from her individual performance. She eventually quit the team to run on her own and go pro because she was somewhat of an outcast at her school. This all started at home, nice job mom and dad.
I remember her story about being an outcast and my heart broke for her. I think a lot of girls were mean to her in HS and MS. At one point I think her dad or a relative posted on these boards (2019, right after her article came out) about her life growing up.
Poor little baby. They weren't mean to her until her parents told the coach, no relays, it's all about Mary. Not sure what her Dad's name is, but it should be Dick.
