Something which I have noticed for a while now is that I am a lot better at long runs than the shorter "easy days", or recovery days.
Yesterday I felt really bad and started at 8:50 pace but after a half mile it went up to 8:30 (this part was uphill). I went around and around on my 2 mile loop, and eventually the pace was at 7:5x (didn't realize it was this fast). This was at the 8 mile mark. After the 8 mile mark it was almost like I was barely running hard at all and was just gliding along until the 14 mile finish. It was really smooth.
For reference, my usual easy pace on recovery days is around 9:50 ish. This long run was my first run running alone in a while, which was nice, actually.
Anyone else feel like long runs are really easy and feel better on longer run days?
