Some old timers will know whether someone has blown up bigger than Ruth Chepngetich and still won a Major but today she split 1:07:34 and 1:14:57.
And I started wondering without Super shoes does anyone else think she might not have won? Seems to me she might have blown up even more but I guess one might argue she wouldn't have gone out as fast.
You certainly don't normally win a major with a 74:57 second half. But then again, Des won Boston in 2018 after a 80:12 2nd half.
But that wasn't really a blow up as her first half was just 79:42.
In the NYC Marathon 1984 Pizzolato crashed badly and stopped several times in the second half, but somewhat managed to hang on and win the race. The winning time (2:15) was very slow as it was hot, but I am not sure about the splits.

He won by 43 seconds, really curious about this race now.
