He gets the best pay days from doing Boston and Chicago that's why he does them. He's smart to max out his earnings as a pro. He has a family to take care of.

But I have to point out that, "I declined, so he will," is also a waste of a comment.
It's possible he will decline. It's also possible he won't.
I did not say he would decline. I just said I am roughly his age and the last year has been harder for me.
Age is not on his side. Maybe he pulls a Bekele from 2019 and is able to run a great time at the age of 27.
Maybe he still has 2 or 3 years ahead of him where he can PR.
Maybe not. Who knows.

Should run Seville in February. Fast course. He can run the record there.

I'm happy for him.
He's 35. If he can still improve at 36 I'd be quite surprised.
For me, the transition form 35-36 has been one of decline. I am 36 now, just in the last year I've fallen off, can't run as much as last year.
Rupp may have the personality of cardboard, but he is faster than all of you. You are in decline, he is not.
Runners who have personality are called instagram posers and attention wh*res on LRC.

Rupp needs to run a flat, cool european marathon in the spring. I forget what's in the spring. London, Berlin, Rotterdam...
I agree. Run a marathon in Europe and set an American record. With a large pack of competitors, perhaps a 2:03-2:04.
This is a funny post. Yeah he's magically going to run a 2:04 when he can't manage to break 2:06 in his prime. He's getting slower, not faster.
I imagine he would really like to run the World Championships in Eugene. It could be really nasty heatwise in July, if we remember the Olympic Trials.
