I fell yesterday while trail running and got a small but deep cut that required 3 stitches. They are on my right leg just below the knee. Does anyone have experience of running after getting stitches? How long did you have to wait?

Do whatever the doctor says. 3-10 days off is my guess. I had a mountain biking accident last year and got 7 stitches in my shin. It looked really gnarly before it was stitched up. You’re not going to lose any fitness of you take a week or two off of running. You’ll actually be fresher than you’ve felt in a while
What are the measurements of the wound? And how deep is deep? Are the stitches all on the top of your skin, or did they throw any into the deep tissue and then close the top? Is there any tension on the wound when you move about? If there are deep stitches, absolutely follow instructions. If they're all superficial...I'm not saying without seeing photos. Don't get mad if you fall and rip the thing open again while still healing or develop a hypertrophic scar from too much tension early in the healing process.
I cut my calve open about 2.5 weeks ago. Was about a 2 inch cut that was deep but horizontal across. I got 7 stitches and ran on it the next day. Had it been a vertical cut may have not been able to do this! I had no issues and ran and biked on it daily and got the stitches out 12 days later!
Knee cuts can take forever to heal!
